Cook time 10 mins

Ingredients

450g self-raising flour

2 tsp baking powder

50g caster sugar

Zest of 1 orange

100g butter (cubed)

300ml milk

1 egg

La Vieja Fábrica Marmalade - any variant

Clotted Cream

Method

1.

Mix together the self-raising flour, baking powder, sugar and orange zest then add in the cubed butter. Rub the mixture together with your hands to form rough breadcrumbs - don't mix for too long as the butter will start to melt

2.

Add in the milk and mix together until it just starts to come together like a dough - making sure to not over mix.

3.

Roll the dough out until it's about 3-5cm tall then fold over in half (this helps create the perfect break in the middle). Cut out your scones in your preferred shape - we opted for a flower cutter for that extra touch.

4.

Place on a baking tray then pop in the fridge whilst your oven pre heats to 200c

5.

Once your oven is pre-heated, glaze the tops of the scones with egg then place on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 7-10 minutes (until golden brown)

6.

Remove from the oven to allow to cool slightly before enjoying with clotted cream and La Vieja Fábrica Marmalade
